Fortune 500 companies are generally known as the largest corporations in the world. According to Wikipedia as shown below, these companies are ranked by their gross revenue.

The Fortune 500 is an annual list compiled and published by Fortune magazine that ranks the top 500 U.S. closely held and public corporations as ranked by their gross revenue after adjustments made by Fortune to exclude the impact of excise taxes companies incur.[1] The list includes publicly and privately held companies for which revenues are publicly available. The first Fortune 500 list was published in 1955.

We conducted a quick and dirty SEO analysis to find out how the Fortune 500 company websites perform in terms of some of the well known SEO elements.

Do Fortune 500 websites implement 301 redirect correctly?

It is very common for a site to set up a home page on a URL other than the root domain. 301 redirect should be utilized to redirect the root domain to such URL to prevent loosing the back link equity.

Surprising enough, a substantial number of Fortune 500 companies are utilizing 302 redirect instead.
